The CHICAGO-LATROBE 11104 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot access the work area. Built to Series 912 specifications and compliant with NAS 907 Type B standards, this 3/16 inch diameter bit features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing the need for a center punch and minimizing walking on hard or curved surfaces. The oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and helps reduce friction during the cut. With a 2.3125-inch flute length and a 12-inch overall length, it delivers reach well beyond what a jobber-length bit can provide. This bit is suited for aerospace, structural, and mechanical trades requiring extended access in tight or deep assemblies.
This extension drill bit is used in applications where a standard drill bit cannot reach the workpiece — common scenarios include drilling through structural steel framing, aircraft fuselage panels, deep machine housings, and confined mechanical assemblies. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without an adapter. Right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional drill presses, hand drills, and magnetic-base drills. General-purpose tool performance rating makes this bit appropriate for steel, aluminum, and similar metals encountered in fabrication, maintenance, and repair work.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit suitable for use in standard 3/16 inch drill chucks and compatible with applications governed by NAS 907 Type B specifications.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists, aircraft mechanics, structural ironworkers, and general maintenance technicians. Secure the workpiece before drilling and confirm the drill chuck is properly tightened to the straight-cylindrical shank before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel applications to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Wear eye protection and follow applicable OSHA and shop-safety requirements when operating rotary cutting tools.
