The CHICAGO-LATROBE 11100 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot access the work area. Built to Series 912 specifications and compliant with NAS 907 Type B standards, this bit features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for self-centering entry and reduced thrust on initial penetration. The 1/8 inch diameter with a 12 inch overall length gives technicians the reach needed for structural, sheet metal, and confined-space drilling tasks. An oxide finish provides corrosion resistance and reduces friction during cutting. Right-hand spiral flutes measure 1.625 inches in length and evacuate chips efficiently during operation.
This drill bit is suited for use in aerospace, aviation maintenance, HVAC sheet metal fabrication, electrical conduit work, and general metalworking where extended reach is required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Its general-purpose tool performance rating makes it appropriate for production environments and field service alike. Professionals in sheet metal, structural assembly, and mechanical service trades rely on extension drill bits like this when working through deep panels, framing cavities, or layered assemblies where a standard jobber-length bit falls short.
Designed as a general-purpose extension drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Meets NAS 907 Type B standards for aircraft and structural drilling applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, sheet metal workers, or maintenance technicians familiar with drilling procedures for the material being worked. Secure the workpiece before drilling and ensure the drill chuck is properly tightened on the shank before operation. Reduce feed pressure at breakthrough to prevent bit deflection or workpiece damage. Use appropriate cutting fluid for harder materials to extend tool life and maintain dimensional tolerance.
