The CHICAGO-LATROBE 11066 is a high speed steel aircraft extension drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight or hard-to-reach locations. Built to Series 906 standards, it carries a wire gauge size of 36, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.1065 inches. The 135-degree split point is self-centering and web-thinned, allowing it to start on contact without a center punch and reducing the thrust needed to begin the cut. The oxide finish provides light corrosion resistance during storage and handling. This bit is suited for use by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals who need accurate small-diameter drilling in production or maintenance environments.
The 11066 is built for general-purpose drilling applications where a standard-length bit cannot reach the workpiece. With a flute length of 1.4375 inches and an overall length of 6 inches, it provides the reach needed for drilling through structural members, brackets, and panels in aerospace, automotive, and industrial fabrication work. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks without adapters. Right-hand spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
Meets NAS 907 Type B standards. Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and right-hand drilling applications across aerospace, automotive, and industrial metalworking settings.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck before operation. Use cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear before each use, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage under side load or excessive feed pressure.
