The CHEVRON PNEUMATIC TUBING V48M28T3016L is a general-purpose ventilated dry-type transformer rated at 30 KVA for three-phase power distribution. It steps down 480-volt delta primary voltage to a 208Y/120-volt secondary, making it suitable for commercial and light industrial electrical systems. Built to DOE 2016 efficiency standards, this unit features an aluminum winding construction and a 150-degree C temperature rise rating. It ships with lugs included, simplifying field termination. Licensed electricians performing service upgrades, tenant build-outs, or equipment power feeds will find this transformer a code-compliant solution for NEMA 2 indoor environments.
This transformer is intended for indoor three-phase distribution applications where a 480-volt delta source must be converted to a 208Y/120-volt four-wire system. Typical installations include commercial buildings, light manufacturing facilities, and mechanical rooms where panel feeds or equipment branch circuits require stepped-down voltage. The ventilated enclosure design allows natural air cooling, which is appropriate for dry, conditioned, or minimally contaminated indoor spaces. The unit meets NEMA ST-20 requirements and carries a 220-degree C insulation class rating, providing a meaningful thermal margin above the 150-degree C rise specification.
Designed as an OEM-style dry-type ventilated transformer replacement or new-installation unit for three-phase 480V delta to 208Y/120V distribution systems meeting NEMA ST-20 and DOE 2016 requirements.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 450 governing transformer installation, overcurrent protection, and clearance requirements. De-energize and lock out the primary supply before making any wiring connections. Verify that primary and secondary overcurrent protection is sized per NEC requirements before energizing. The ventilated enclosure must be mounted in a location that maintains adequate airflow clearances and is protected from dripping liquids, consistent with NEMA 2 ratings.
