The Charlotte Pipe Foundry PVC044000800 is a 4-inch diameter, 20-foot length Schedule 40 foam core PVC pipe engineered for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) applications. The foam core construction uses a cellular PVC inner layer sandwiched between solid PVC skins, reducing weight compared to solid-wall pipe while maintaining the dimensional compliance required for Schedule 40 fittings. This pipe ships with plain ends for field cutting and solvent cementing. It is rated for non-pressure DWV service only and meets ASTM F-891 and NSF Standard 14. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the primary installers of this product in residential and light commercial drain systems.
This pipe is intended for non-pressure drain, waste, and vent applications in residential and commercial construction. Typical installations include gravity-flow drain lines, vent stacks, and waste branch lines inside building envelopes. The plain-end configuration allows field cuts to length using a hand saw or power miter saw, followed by standard PVC solvent cement joining. It is not rated for pressure service, irrigation, or potable water supply lines. The foam core design makes it well suited for long horizontal runs and multi-story vent stacks where weight savings benefit the installer.
Designed for use with standard Schedule 40 PVC DWV fittings and solvent cement systems in non-pressure drain, waste, and vent piping assemblies per ASTM F-891.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Cut pipe square using a hand saw, ratchet cutter, or power saw and deburr all cut ends before solvent cementing. Use only PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings. This pipe is not rated for pressure applications — do not install it in any pressurized water supply, compressed air, or irrigation system.
