The CHARLOTTE PIPE PVC-601-4X4X3 is a reducing wye fitting designed for PVC drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems. It transitions from a 4-inch mainline to a 4-inch run with a 3-inch branch outlet, making it a standard component in gravity-fed waste elimination systems. This fitting is rated for non-pressure applications only and is not suitable for systems where temperatures exceed 140 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in residential and light commercial drain lines, stack vents, and branch connections.
This reducing wye is used in DWV assemblies where a branch line of smaller diameter needs to tie into a larger main stack or horizontal drain run. Typical applications include bathroom group drains, kitchen waste lines, and vent stack configurations in residential new construction and remodel work. The 4 x 4 x 3 configuration is a common size in single-family and multi-family plumbing rough-in. Charlotte Pipe manufactures this fitting in the USA to standard DWV dimensional specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for residential and commercial PVC DWV piping systems using standard 4-inch and 3-inch schedule piping and fittings per applicable plumbing codes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off water supply and ensure the drain system is depressurized and cleared before cutting into existing lines. Use approved PVC DWV solvent cement and primer when solvent-welding joints, and follow manufacturer cure time guidelines before flowing water through the system. Do not use this fitting in pressurized supply lines or in systems exceeding the rated temperature.
