The CHARLOTTE PIPE PVC-601-2X2X1-1/2 is a reducing wye fitting designed for drain, waste, and vent (DWV) applications in non-pressure, gravity-fed drainage systems. It connects a 2-inch by 2-inch run to a 1-1/2-inch branch, allowing a smaller branch line to tie into a 2-inch drain stack or horizontal run. This fitting is manufactured from PVC, keeping it lightweight and straightforward to handle on the job. System operating temperatures must not exceed 140 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit work where code-compliant DWV piping is required.
This reducing wye is used in residential and light commercial DWV systems wherever a 1-1/2-inch branch drain, such as a lavatory, utility sink, or fixture trap arm, needs to connect to a 2-inch main drain line. The wye configuration supports proper drainage flow angle and can also serve venting connections in a sanitary DWV stack. It is suited for above-slab and in-wall rough-in scenarios common in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for residential and commercial PVC DWV piping systems using 2-inch main lines with 1-1/2-inch branch connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local jurisdiction equivalents. Shut off water supply and ensure the drain line is clear and dry before solvent-cementing joints. Use a PVC-rated primer and solvent cement appropriate for DWV fittings, and allow full cure time before restoring flow. Do not use this fitting in pressurized water supply lines or in systems where temperatures exceed 140 degrees F.
