It connects a 3/4-inch slip inlet to a 1/2-inch female-threaded outlet, allowing a directional change of 90 degrees while simultaneously stepping down pipe size in a single fitting. This reduces the need for a separate coupling and elbow, keeping runs tighter and cutting labor time. The fitting meets ASTM D 2466 requirements. It is sold in packages of 25 units and is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and irrigation applications where PVC schedule 40 fittings are specified.
This reducing elbow is primarily used in sprinkler and irrigation systems where supply lines transition from a larger distribution run to a smaller lateral or head connection while changing direction. The slip inlet side accepts solvent-cement jointing to schedule 40 PVC pipe, and the female-threaded outlet accepts standard NPT-threaded risers, valves, or heads. Installation is performed by plumbers or irrigation technicians following standard PVC solvent-cement procedures per manufacturer and applicable code guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water supply completely before cutting into any existing line. Apply primer and solvent cement rated for PVC schedule 40 fittings to the slip end; thread connections should be wrapped with PTFE thread tape before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded connections on PVC female fittings, as cracking can occur.
