The CHARLOTTE PIPE FOUNDRY CO. PVC 02108 1600HA is a white PVC reducer bushing designed to step down pipe size within a pressurized line. The spigot-by-thread end configuration allows it to connect a 1-1/2 inch spigot fitting to a 3/4 inch threaded fitting in a single transition. Manufactured to meet ASTM D 2466 requirements, this bushing is suited for use in PVC pressure systems where maintaining system integrity at the reduction point is critical. Plumbers and irrigation technicians install this fitting as a standard size-reduction component in residential and light commercial piping assemblies.
This reducer bushing is used primarily in sprinkler and irrigation systems where supply lines must be reduced to serve smaller distribution piping or valve inlets. It is also applicable in general plumbing drain and supply configurations that require a transition from 1-1/2 inch to 3/4 inch. The spigot end inserts into a compatible socket fitting, while the threaded end accepts a standard 3/4 inch male or female threaded connection depending on the assembly. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or irrigation technicians in accordance with applicable local plumbing and irrigation codes. Shut off system pressure and relieve any residual line pressure before cutting into existing piping. The spigot end requires solvent cement applied to both the spigot and the receiving socket per ASTM D 2564 procedures. Do not apply pipe thread sealant to the spigot end or use excessive force on the threaded connection, as over-torquing PVC threads can cause cracking.
