The Charlotte Pipe Foundry Co. ABS 00601 1400HA is an ABS DWV reducing wye fitting designed to introduce a smaller vertical branch into a horizontal drain run. The fitting measures 3 inches by 3 inches by 2 inches and uses a hub by hub by hub (HxHxH) connection on all three ports. It is manufactured from black ABS material and is rated for non-pressure drain, waste, and vent service only. Licensed plumbers install this fitting during rough-in on residential and light commercial DWV systems where a reduced-diameter branch line must tee off a main horizontal stack.
This reducing wye is suited for drain, waste, and vent applications where a 2-inch branch line drops off a 3-inch horizontal run. Its reducing geometry keeps flow moving in the direction of drainage while accommodating a smaller branch without requiring an additional reducer fitting. It is commonly used in residential new construction and renovation plumbing work governed by the International Plumbing Code and local ABS-approved plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for ABS DWV piping systems operating under non-pressure drain, waste, and vent conditions per applicable plumbing codes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code or the applicable local plumbing code that permits ABS DWV fittings. Shut off all water supply and ensure the drain line is clear and dry before cutting into an existing run. Use an approved ABS solvent cement and primer where required by code, following the cement manufacturer's pot life and cure time guidelines. Do not use this fitting on pressure systems or in applications requiring high chemical resistance.
