The CGW 48122 is a zirconia resin fibre disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. At 7 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, this Type ZIRK depressed-center disc mounts to standard angle grinders and disc sanders used daily in fabrication, welding, and metal finishing work. The 36-grit abrasive grade makes it well suited for heavy stock removal, weld blending, and surface prep where a coarser cut is needed. Sold in boxes of 25, this disc is a standard consumable for shops and field crews that run through abrasives at volume.
These fibre discs are a go-to for metalworking trades including ironworkers, pipefitters, welders, and fabricators working in both shop and field environments. The depressed-center profile allows the disc to seat flush against a backing pad on a right-angle grinder, keeping the full abrasive face in contact with the workpiece. Typical applications include removing mill scale, blending welds on structural steel, cleaning pipe joints, and prepping surfaces before coating or painting. The zirconia abrasive grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide alternatives.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders and disc sanders accepting a 7-inch fibre disc with a 7/8-inch arbor hole and a standard backing pad.
Fibre discs must be mounted on a matching-diameter rigid or semi-flexible backing pad before use. Inspect each disc for cracks or damage before mounting and never operate above the maximum RPM rating marked on the disc. Ensure the grinder is powered off and unplugged before changing discs. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when running abrasive discs.
