The CGW 48116 is a zirconia resin fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. Measuring 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole, this Type ZIRK disc runs at 80 grit, making it well-suited for weld blending, surface conditioning, and stock removal tasks. Zirconia alumina abrasive grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining consistent cut rate and extending disc life compared to standard aluminum oxide alternatives. Each box contains 25 discs. This product is sold in box quantities with a minimum order of 25 units.
These fiber discs are used in fabrication shops, metal finishing operations, and maintenance environments where consistent, repeatable grinding performance is required. The 80 grit designation positions this disc for intermediate to aggressive grinding work, including removing mill scale, cleaning welds, and preparing surfaces before coating or inspection. Compatible with standard right-angle grinders fitted with a rubber or plastic backing pad and appropriate arbor hardware.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders equipped with a backing pad sized for 5 inch fiber discs and a 7/8 inch arbor. Suitable for grinding applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Fiber discs must be mounted on a matching rubber or plastic backing pad before use — never run a fiber disc without a backing pad. Ensure the grinder is rated for the disc diameter and that the arbor nut is secure before powering the tool. Inspect each disc for cracks or damage before mounting. Follow all applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive disc use, and wear appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves.
