The CGW 48115 is a zirconia resin fibre disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. Measuring 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, this Type ZIRK disc runs at 60 grit — a coarse cutting grade suited for weld blending, surface conditioning, and heavy stock removal. Zirconia alumina grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide discs. Each box contains 25 discs. These are installed on a right-angle grinder fitted with a fibre disc backing pad and are used daily by fabricators, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians.
This disc is appropriate for both shop and field metalworking applications. The 60-grit cut makes it effective for initial weld seam grinding, removing mill scale, and prepping surfaces before coating or welding. It is suited for use on mild steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals in residential fabrication shops, industrial maintenance environments, and structural steel work. The 25-disc-per-box quantity supports production-level or crew-based workflows where disc turnover is frequent.
Designed for use with 5-inch right-angle grinders fitted with a compatible fibre disc backing pad and 7/8-inch arbor. Verify grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum operating speed before use.
Installation and disc changes must be performed by a qualified operator following grinder and abrasive safety protocols. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before mounting or removing a disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use — never mount a damaged disc. Always use the correct backing pad size and ensure the arbor nut is properly torqued per the grinder manufacturer's specification.
