The CGW 48112 is a zirconia alumina resin fibre disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. At 5 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole and a 36-grit rating, this disc is built for heavy stock removal, weld blending, and surface conditioning tasks. The ZIRK-type zirconia grain self-sharpens under pressure, maintaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide discs. Metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians use this disc with angle grinders and disc sanders in production and field settings. Each box contains 25 discs.
The 48112 suits applications in metal fabrication shops, structural steel work, pipeline maintenance, and general industrial grinding. The 36-grit designation makes it appropriate for initial weld seam grinding, edge chamfering, and rapid paint or rust removal on carbon steel and stainless. The 5-inch diameter fits standard right-angle grinders commonly used across fabrication, construction, and HVAC mechanical trades where sheet metal and structural work overlap.
Designed for use with 5-inch angle grinders and disc sanders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor or a 5/8-inch to 7/8-inch reducing adapter. Suitable for grinding carbon steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals.
Fibre discs require a compatible rubber or hard fibre backing pad matched to the disc diameter before mounting on the grinder spindle. Inspect each disc for cracks or damage before use and never operate above the maximum RPM rating printed on the disc. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection. Disconnect or de-energize the grinder before changing discs.
