The CGW 42334 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc engineered for aggressive stock removal and blending on metal surfaces. Built on the Z3 USA-made zirconia grain platform, it delivers consistent cut rates and longer wheel life compared to standard aluminum oxide discs. The 60-grit designation places it firmly in the medium-coarse range, making it well suited for weld blending, surface conditioning, and edge work. The 5/8-11 threaded hub mounts directly to standard angle grinders without adapters. Each box contains 10 discs. Metal fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and welders are the primary users of this disc type.
This flap disc is intended for use on angle grinders operating at compatible RPM ratings for a 4-1/2 inch disc. The Type 29 conical design angles the abrasive surface slightly, which increases surface contact on flat and contoured work and reduces operator fatigue during extended grinding passes. Typical applications include carbon steel fabrication, weld seam removal, deburring, and light rust removal. The Z3 zirconia grain is self-sharpening, meaning it fractures under heat and pressure to expose fresh cutting edges throughout the disc life.
Designed for use with standard angle grinders accepting a 4-1/2 inch disc and a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Confirm grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the maximum RPM marked on the disc before mounting.
Mounting and disc changes must be performed with the grinder unplugged or the battery removed. Thread the 5/8-11 hub fully onto the grinder spindle and verify the disc is seated flat before operation. Always inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate a damaged disc. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable OSHA abrasive wheel standards for safe grinding practices.
