The CGW 42331 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive grinding and blending on metal surfaces. Built with Z3 USA-made premium zirconia grain, this disc delivers consistent stock removal and a longer service life compared to standard aluminum oxide flap discs. At 4.5 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded hub, it mounts directly to most angle grinders without an adapter. The 36-grit configuration makes it well-suited for heavy material removal, weld grinding, and surface preparation. Each box contains 10 discs. This product is installed and used by metal fabricators, welders, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians.
The CGW 42331 is used in residential fabrication shops, commercial metalworking environments, and industrial maintenance settings. The T29 conical shape allows the disc to contact the workpiece at an angle, increasing surface contact and making it effective on flat stock, structural steel, and pipe. The 36-grit cut is appropriate for initial weld bead removal, rust and scale removal, and edge preparation before welding or coating. The 5/8-11 arbor is the standard thread for most 4.5-inch angle grinders available in the North American market.
Designed for use with 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a standard 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Suitable for grinding carbon steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals.
Flap discs are installed and operated by metalworkers, welders, and fabricators using handheld angle grinders. Verify the grinder's maximum RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc's rated speed before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc showing signs of delamination or cracking. Always wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during operation.
