The CGW 42325 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Measuring 4-1/2 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, this disc runs at an angled grinding position typical of Type 29 geometry, which increases surface contact and stock removal compared to a flat Type 27 profile. The Z3 zirconia grain is a self-sharpening abrasive that maintains cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide, making it well-suited for sustained grinding on mild steel, stainless steel, and weld seams. At 80 grit, it removes material quickly while leaving a workable surface finish. Discs are sold in a box of 10.
This flap disc is used in fabrication shops, welding operations, and metal finishing applications where consistent cut-down of welds, burrs, or surface scale is required. The angled Type 29 profile is preferred when working on flat stock or large surface areas where a more aggressive bite angle improves productivity. It is a common consumable for grinders used by welders, ironworkers, pipefitters, and metal fabricators working on both light structural and sheet metal work.
Designed for use on standard 4-1/2-inch angle grinders with a 7/8-inch arbor. Suitable for grinding mild steel, stainless steel, and similar ferrous metals.
Flap discs are installed and replaced by the operator before or during use — always power down and disconnect the grinder before mounting or removing a disc. Verify the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc's maximum RPM rating before use. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows cracking, missing flaps, or a damaged hub.
