The CGW 42305 is a Type 27 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive grinding and blending on metal surfaces. Measuring 4-1/2 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole, it is manufactured in the USA using Z3-grade zirconia grain, which self-sharpens during use to maintain consistent cut rate and surface finish. The 80-grit designation makes it well suited for stock removal, weld blending, and surface preparation on steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals. Sold in a box of 10 discs, this part is intended for use by fabricators, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance tradespeople who operate standard 4-1/2-inch angle grinders.
This flap disc is appropriate for both shop and field applications involving weld seam removal, deburring, and general grinding on structural steel, pipe, and plate. The flat Type 27 profile allows flush grinding on flat and slightly contoured workpieces. The 80-grit zirconia construction handles moderate to heavy material removal while leaving a finer finish than coarser grits, reducing the need for additional finishing steps. Units are sold individually per disc with a minimum order quantity of 10.
Designed for use with standard 4-1/2-inch angle grinders accepting a 7/8-inch arbor, commonly used in metal fabrication, welding, pipefitting, and structural ironwork applications.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder disconnected from power or the battery removed. Verify the grinder speed rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum RPM before mounting. Inspect each disc for cracks or damage before use and discard any disc that shows delamination or grain separation. Always wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when operating grinding equipment.
