The CGW 42302 is a Type 27 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive stock removal on steel and ferrous metals. Built on a poly/cotton backing, the disc balances durability with surface finish. The zirconia alumina grain delivers fast, consistent cut rates, while an active grinding aid keeps operating temperatures low even under moderate pressure. Each disc measures 4-1/2 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor hole and carries a 40-grit designation for heavy material removal. The 42302 ships in a box of 10 discs.
This flap disc is suited for fabrication shops, structural steel work, weld blending, and heavy-duty surface prep. The T27 flat profile allows flush grinding on flat surfaces and inside corners. The 40-grit rating makes it appropriate for initial weld removal, deburring, and rapid stock removal passes before transitioning to a finer grit. The poly/cotton backing is rated for high-load, continuous grinding cycles common in production and field environments.
Designed for use with 4-1/2-inch angle grinders fitted with a 7/8-inch arbor. Suitable for grinding carbon steel, structural steel, and other ferrous metals.
Flap discs are installed and removed by a qualified operator following grinder manufacturer guidelines and ANSI B7.1 safety standards. Verify the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum RPM before mounting. Power down and unplug or lock out the grinder before changing discs. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never operate a damaged disc.
