The CENTURY DRILL TOOL CO INC 98214 is a 1-7/16 inch hexagon fractional threading die designed for hand threading work on 5/8 inch diameter rod or fastener stock with 18 threads per inch National Fine (NF) pitch. Made from carbon steel, this die is suited for routine maintenance and repair rethreading tasks where tight tolerance accuracy is not the primary requirement. It fits standard hexagon die stock and can also be driven with a wrench or socket in confined spaces. Licensed tradespeople and experienced DIYers use this die for field repairs and shop threading work across a range of materials.
This die is intended for hand threading applications in maintenance, repair, and light fabrication environments. It is well suited for rethreading damaged or corroded fasteners, cleaning up threads on rod stock, and similar repair tasks where a high-precision thread form is not required. The hexagonal outer profile allows use with die stock handles as well as standard wrenches and sockets, making it practical when working in tight or restricted areas. Sold in a package quantity of 6 units, making it a practical stock item for shop or service truck use.
Designed for use with standard hexagon die stock handles and compatible with wrenches or sockets of the appropriate drive size for the 1-7/16 inch hex outer diameter.
Always secure the workpiece before threading to prevent movement during die operation. Apply a suitable cutting oil to the die and workpiece to reduce friction and extend die life, especially when threading steel or other ferrous materials. Back the die off periodically to clear chips and prevent binding. This tool is intended for hand threading only and should not be used in power threading equipment.
