The CENTURY DRILL TOOL CO INC 96201 is a 1/4-20 national coarse fractional hex die designed for hand cutting external threads on bolts, rods, and fasteners. The die features precision-cut threads, accurately formed to produce consistent and exact threading results on each pass. Heat treated and tempered construction delivers file-hard thread faces, extending service life under repeated use. At 1 inch across the flats, it fits standard hex die stocks used by tradespeople for field and shop threading work. This die ships in a package quantity of two.
This hex die is suited for hand threading applications in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general mechanical work wherever 1/4-20 NC external threads are required. It is particularly useful during rough-in and installation tasks where field threading of small-diameter rods or fasteners is needed. The hex profile seats securely in a standard die stock handle, allowing controlled, consistent thread cutting on mild steel and similar materials.
Designed for use with standard hex die stock handles that accept a 1-inch hex die. Suitable for hand threading 1/4-20 NC external threads on mild steel rods, bolts, and threaded fasteners.
Install the die into an appropriately sized hex die stock before use. Apply cutting oil or thread cutting fluid to the workpiece and die before starting each cut to reduce heat buildup and extend die life. Advance the die in short increments and back off periodically to clear chips. Threading operations on electrical conduit, pipe, or structural elements should follow applicable NEC, IPC, or IFGC guidelines as appropriate to the trade.
