The CENTURY DRILL TOOL CO INC 73205 is a No. 5 square flute screw extractor designed to remove broken bolts and screws from fastening holes without damaging surrounding material. It removes bolts or screws up to 5/8 inches in diameter and is also rated for removing pipe fittings at 3/8 inches. The square flute design bites into the broken fastener as it turns counterclockwise, drawing it out cleanly. A 3/8-inch left-hand cobalt drill bit is recommended for the pilot hole. This tool is packaged in a set of 4 extractors and weighs 0.44 pounds total.
This extractor is well suited for thin-wall extraction applications where a standard extractor might crack or spread the surrounding material. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, and general trade professionals use screw extractors when a bolt or screw has sheared off flush or below the surface of the work piece. The 73205 is commonly used on pipe fittings, fasteners in metal brackets, equipment housings, and structural connections where a broken fastener blocks disassembly or replacement of components.
Designed for use with broken bolts or screws 5/8 inches in diameter and broken pipe fittings at 3/8 inches. Requires a 3/8-inch left-hand cobalt drill bit for pilot hole preparation prior to extraction.
This tool is installed by trade professionals including plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians. Before use, ensure the work piece is secured and power to any associated system is shut off. Drill the pilot hole using a left-hand cobalt drill bit at the recommended 3/8-inch size before engaging the extractor. Turn the extractor counterclockwise with a tap wrench or similar driver to engage the flutes and draw out the broken fastener.
