The CENTAUR RDF - 181 is a Series 100 AF collet designed for precision workholding in machining and tooling applications. It accepts round stock with a collet capacity ranging from 31/64 inch (approximately 0.484 inches) up to 1/2 inch (0.500 inches), making it well suited for close-tolerance gripping of near-half-inch diameter workpieces or tooling shanks. The collet measures 1.45 inches in overall diameter and 2.5 inches in overall length. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC setup personnel working with Series 100 AF-compatible spindles and chucks will find this collet a direct-fit solution for their workholding setup.
This collet is intended for use in machine shop environments where the Series 100 AF collet system is the specified standard. It is applicable in production turning, milling, grinding, or secondary operations where consistent, repeatable gripping of workpieces or tool shanks in the 31/64 to 1/2 inch range is required. Typical installations involve manual or CNC lathes, machining centers, and collet chucks configured for the Series 100 AF format.
Designed as a direct replacement or spare collet for Series 100 AF collet systems accepting 1/2 inch maximum capacity collets.
Collet installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and locked out per machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the collet bore, taper, and seating surfaces for wear or debris before installation. Collet closers and drawbars should be torqued according to the machine manufacturer specifications, not improvised values. Mixing collet series or forcing a collet into an incompatible closer can damage both the collet and the spindle nose.
