The CENTAUR 100500 is a quick-change tapping adapter designed to hold and drive taps in machining and threading operations. It belongs to the CWE1 series and accepts a 1/2 inch tap size with a tap adapter size of 1. The adapter shank diameter measures 0.367 inches and the outside shank diameter is 0.75 inches, allowing secure seating in compatible toolholding systems. Flange diameter is 1.18 inches and tap depth reaches 1.11 inches. This adapter does not include coolant-through capability. It is sold as a single unit and weighs 0.3 pounds.
This tapping adapter is suited for use in production and job-shop environments where repeatable tap changes and consistent thread depth are required. The quick-change interface reduces downtime during tap swaps on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines. It is a standard fitment for threading operations requiring a 1/2 inch tap in applications ranging from light manufacturing to heavy industrial fab work. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the typical end users.
Designed for use with CENTAUR CWE1 series quick-change tapping systems accepting a tap adapter size 1 interface and a 1/2 inch tap.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with quick-change tapping systems. Before mounting or removing the adapter, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy sources are locked out per standard OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the tap shank seats completely and that any retention mechanism on the quick-change system is fully engaged before resuming operation. Do not exceed the tap size rating of the adapter.
