The CD VALVE cd5558/3 is a braze-on, self-piercing copper saddle valve designed for 5/8-inch OD tubing. It is sold in a 3-pack. The valve allows a technician to tap into a charged refrigerant or fluid line without recovering the system first. After brazing the saddle body onto the line, the integrated steel pin with valve core penetrates the tubing wall. Tightening the cap locks the pin in place and seals the connection. This design reduces the steps needed to add a service port or access point to an existing line. HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics are the primary installers.
This saddle valve is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC and refrigeration applications where a service port or pressure tap must be added to an existing 5/8-inch OD copper line. It is commonly installed on suction or liquid lines during service calls when adding a Schrader port or tapping a sealed system. The self-piercing feature allows installation on a pressurized line, which reduces downtime during service.
Designed for use on 5/8-inch OD copper tubing in residential and light commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. Fits applications requiring a braze-on saddle valve at that tube diameter.
Installation is performed by a qualified HVAC technician or refrigeration mechanic using standard brazing equipment and nitrogen purge practices. Clean and deburr the tube surface before fitting the saddle body to ensure a proper braze joint. Although the valve can be installed on a charged line, follow all applicable safety procedures and local codes when working with pressurized refrigerant systems. Ensure the valve core and cap are fully sealed after installation before returning the system to service.
