The CARRIER US5464H is a multi-horsepower, two-speed permanent split capacitor motor designed for high ambient condenser fan applications in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Rated at 1/3 HP primary and 1/6 HP secondary, the motor runs at 825 RPM on a single-phase circuit drawing 208-230 volts at 60 Hz. Built on a 48Y frame with a totally enclosed, air-over construction, it handles elevated ambient temperatures and outdoor installation conditions. The 5.6-inch diameter housing and 70 degrees C ambient rating make it well suited for replacement duty in demanding condenser fan applications. Licensed HVAC technicians typically handle this installation.
This motor is intended for condenser fan motor replacement in residential and light commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump equipment. The 48Y frame with Y-type shaft is a standard fitment in a wide range of condensing units. Its multi-horsepower configuration — 0.333 HP and 0.167 HP — gives technicians flexibility when servicing units that require either speed or horsepower tap. The two-speed design allows the system control board to switch between cooling demand levels, helping maintain proper airflow across the condenser coil under varying load conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement condenser fan motor for residential and light commercial air conditioning and heat pump condensing units using a 48Y frame motor with a Y-type shaft configuration.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with NEC requirements and the equipment manufacturer's service instructions. Disconnect and lock out all power to the condensing unit before removing the existing motor or any wiring. Verify that the existing capacitor rating is compatible with this PSC motor before reconnecting; replace the run capacitor if it shows any signs of bulging, leakage, or capacitance drift outside of specification. Confirm correct rotation direction and airflow orientation before returning the unit to service.
