The CARRIER p530-4456 is a genuine OEM thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) kit designed to regulate refrigerant flow in residential and light commercial HVAC systems using R410A refrigerant. The TXV meters refrigerant entering the evaporator coil based on superheat, maintaining proper system efficiency across a range of load conditions. This kit covers systems rated from 4.5 to 6 tons and is installed by licensed HVAC technicians during routine maintenance, coil replacements, or refrigerant system repairs. At 5.6 inches long, 5.4 inches wide, and 3.4 inches tall, the valve assembly is sized for straightforward integration into compatible split-system equipment.
The p530-4456 TXV kit is suited for split-system cooling and heat pump applications where precise refrigerant metering is required. Systems operating with R410A refrigerant and capacities between 4.5 and 6 tons fall within this valve's designed operating range. Typical installation scenarios include evaporator coil replacements, TXV failures causing poor system performance or icing, and system conversions requiring a properly matched expansion device. This kit provides a direct OEM-replacement solution for field service work on applicable Carrier HVAC equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement TXV for Carrier residential and light commercial split-system HVAC equipment rated between 4.5 and 6 tons and using R410A refrigerant.
Installation should be performed by an EPA 608-certified HVAC technician. Recover all system refrigerant and relieve system pressure before removing the existing valve. Proper brazing technique and nitrogen purging are required when making refrigerant line connections to prevent oxidation inside the refrigerant circuit. After installation, leak-check all connections, evacuate the system to the required micron level, and verify superheat readings before returning the system to service.
