The CARRIER em2543t-g is a 50 HP, three-phase, general-purpose AC induction motor built for continuous-duty industrial and commercial applications. Rated at 460 volts (also configurable at 230 volts) across a 60 Hz supply, it delivers a full-load speed of 1775 RPM on a 326T steel frame with OPSB (open protected splash-proof) enclosure. Insulation Class H and a 1.15 service factor allow the motor to handle intermittent overloads without thermal degradation. The inverter-ready design makes it compatible with variable frequency drive installations where speed control or soft-start capability is required.
This motor is suited for general-purpose industrial applications including pumps, compressors, fans, and conveyor drives in commercial and light-industrial facilities. The OPSB enclosure is appropriate for indoor or sheltered outdoor locations where splash exposure is possible but full submersion or heavy particulate ingestion is not. The F1 mounting arrangement and rigid base allow direct mounting to a bedplate or structural skid. Installation is typically performed by licensed industrial electricians or mechanical contractors familiar with large-frame motor alignment and NEC requirements for motor branch circuits.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose replacement or new-installation motor for three-phase, 326T frame applications requiring a 50 HP NEMA Premium motor with OPSB enclosure and F1 mounting.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 430 governing motor branch circuits, overload protection, and disconnecting means. Disconnect and lock out all power sources before handling motor leads or making mechanical connections. Verify shaft alignment with the driven load using a dial indicator before final coupling torque, and confirm that the VFD carrier frequency and output filter settings are compatible with the motor nameplate ratings when used in inverter applications. Do not energize the motor without confirming that overload protection is sized to the actual full-load amp draw at the selected voltage.
