The CARRIER eaa5x48m21a is an uncased A-coil equipped with a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) configured for use with R-454B refrigerant. Uncased evaporator coils are installed inside existing air handler cabinets or furnace casings, serving as the heat-transfer component in a split-system cooling or heat pump application. The factory-installed TXV provides precise refrigerant metering for consistent capacity and efficiency across a range of operating conditions. This coil is installed by licensed HVAC technicians as part of a split-system refrigerant circuit requiring proper leak testing, evacuation, and refrigerant charging with R-454B.
The eaa5x48m21a is designed for residential or light-commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump applications where an uncased coil configuration is required. Because it ships without an enclosing cabinet, it fits into existing or custom sheet-metal air handler cabinets. This makes it a common choice for replacement installations where the original casing is retained or when a contractor is building a matched system using a compatible air handler or gas furnace as the blower cabinet.
Designed as an OEM-style uncased evaporator coil for use in residential or light-commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump installations requiring R-454B refrigerant and a TXV metering device.
Installation must be performed by an EPA Section 608 certified HVAC technician. Shut down and lock out the entire system, including electrical disconnect and refrigerant isolation, before handling the coil. After installation, pressure-test the refrigerant circuit, pull a deep vacuum, and charge with R-454B to manufacturer-specified conditions. Follow all local mechanical codes and refrigerant handling regulations applicable to mildly flammable A2L refrigerants.
