The CARRHILL 710-0200-S4 is a straight transition fitting designed to connect a 2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) stainless steel end to a DR-11 polyethylene pipe in water service applications. This fitting bridges two different pipe materials in a single, inline connection, eliminating the need for additional adapters. It is used in potable water distribution, irrigation, and water main service lines where a threaded metal pipe transitions to a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or similar DR-11-rated pipe. Licensed plumbers and water service contractors install this fitting as part of new construction and repair work.
This transition fitting is suited for residential and light commercial water service applications where a stainless steel threaded connection meets a DR-11 rated plastic pipe. The DR-11 dimension ratio indicates a pipe wall thickness specification commonly found in water distribution and irrigation systems. The MIPT stainless steel end offers corrosion resistance at the threaded joint, which is important in buried or wet environments. Installers working on water mains, service laterals, and meter connections will encounter this type of fitting regularly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 2-inch water service lines transitioning from stainless steel MIPT threaded connections to DR-11 rated polyethylene pipe.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and applicable IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning any work on the fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MIPT threads and hand-tighten before using a pipe wrench to complete the joint. Follow the pipe manufacturer's instructions for the DR-11 end connection method, whether mechanical or fusion, as applicable to the specific pipe being used.
