The CARMEX SIR1250S22 is an indexable internal threading toolholder designed for right-hand cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the SIR toolholder style, it accepts 22IR series inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method for positive insert location under load. The shank measures 1.25 x 1.25 inches square with an overall length of 10 inches, and the minimum bore diameter is 1.5 inches, making it suitable for threading medium to large internal bores. This toolholder does not include coolant-through capability. It is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in production and job-shop turning environments.
The SIR1250S22 is applied in internal threading operations where a rigid, square-shank boring bar style holder is required. It fits standard tool block or turret positions that accept 1.25-inch square shank tooling. The 0.85-inch center-to-cutting-edge and back-of-bar-to-cutting-edge dimensions are suited for threading operations in bores starting at 1.5 inches. This toolholder is a single-use style and is not configured as a multi-use tool. Typical applications include thread-chasing and thread-generating passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in a lathe or turning center setup.
Designed for use with 22IR series indexable threading inserts. Fits tool blocks and turret stations accepting a 1.25-inch square shank. Confirm insert seat geometry and thread profile with the selected 22IR insert grade and style before use.
Installation of indexable toolholders should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or adjusting tooling. Verify shank clamping torque per the turret or tool block manufacturer specifications. Confirm insert orientation and profile match the thread form required before taking a cutting pass.
