The CARMEX 30I20UNMT7 is a carbide thread mill insert engineered for internal thread milling operations. Built from submicron carbide in the MT7 grade, it carries a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert follows the UN thread standard at 20 teeth per inch and conforms to ANSI B1.1-1989. At 0.217 inches thick, this insert fits within the 30I insert style family. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC machining centers equipped for thread milling cycles.
This insert is suited for internal thread milling of UN-standard threads at 20 TPI on CNC machining centers and thread milling toolholders that accept the 30I insert style. Typical applications include production and job-shop environments where consistent thread form, tool life, and coating durability are priorities. The TiAlN finish supports use in ferrous and hardened materials at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert style code 30I identifies the geometry class for proper toolholder pairing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for thread mill toolholders accepting the 30I insert style with internal UN threading capability at 20 TPI.
Thread mill inserts are seated and torqued into their toolholder pockets by a machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the clamping screw - do not use the insert thickness or any value from the product data as a torque reference.
