The CARMEX 3/8EXRHAG60MXC is a laydown-style external threading insert designed for partial-profile 60-degree thread forms on CNC lathes and threading operations. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert handles a broad range of workpiece materials in a single grade. The 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 0.146 inch thickness conform to the 16ER insert style standard. A right-hand cutting geometry covers 48 to 8 threads per inch, making it suitable for a wide span of coarse and fine thread pitches in a single insert profile. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users.

This insert is used in external threading operations on CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with appropriate 16ER-style toolholders. The universal material grade designation supports use on carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and other common workpiece materials. Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and locked-out condition before insert change. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify insert seating and tool offset registration before resuming cutting operations. Handling solid carbide inserts with bare hands is not recommended, as surface contamination can affect coating adhesion on reground tools.
