The CARMEX 22UIR4STACMEBXC is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting right-hand internal Stub Acme threads. It operates at 4 threads per inch (TPI) and features a PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating that improves surface hardness and extends cutting life. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.187 inch thickness, this insert seats reliably in compatible toolholders. It is used in CNC lathes and manual threading operations by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with Stub Acme thread forms common in power transmission and linear motion applications.
This insert is suited for internal threading operations on Stub Acme profiles, which are widely used in lead screws, jacks, and actuator components. The 22UIR insert style is a standard laydown geometry indexed into a matching toolholder. It is appropriate for production and job-shop environments where consistent thread form accuracy and tool life are priorities. The solid carbide substrate handles interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials better than high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting the 22UIR insert style for internal Stub Acme threading operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Ensure the toolholder and insert pocket are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidance and verify thread form with a go/no-go gauge after the first pass.
