The CARMEX 22IR5STACMEP30 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for right-hand internal Stub Acme thread cutting. Built to the 22 IR insert style and graded P30 by the manufacturer with a C5 material grade, this uncoated insert delivers consistent thread form at 5 threads per inch. The 0.5-inch inscribed circle and 0.187-inch thickness are standard for laydown-style toolholding systems. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert when producing Stub Acme internal threads in production or repair applications across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for internal threading operations on lathes and turning centers where Stub Acme thread profiles are required. Stub Acme threads are commonly found in power transmission components, lead screws, linear actuators, and jack screw assemblies. The uncoated P30 carbide grade performs well in a broad range of ferrous materials at moderate cutting speeds and is a standard choice where coating-related dimensional offsets are not desired.
Designed for use in 22 IR-style laydown threading toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert. Suitable for producing right-hand internal Stub Acme threads at 5 TPI.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator during tooling setup. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without overtightening. Verify insert seating and thread form on a test pass before running production cuts.
