The CARMEX 16ER8STACMEP30 is a laydown threading insert designed for cutting external Stub Acme threads at 8 threads per inch. Manufactured from solid carbide in an uncoated P30 grade (material grade C5), it delivers consistent thread form on a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 29-degree included angle that matches the Stub Acme thread standard. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a thickness of 0.146 inches, the 16 ER insert style seats securely in compatible laydown toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert for precision threading on lathes and turning centers where Stub Acme thread profiles are required.
This insert is suited for external Stub Acme threading operations in production and job-shop turning environments. Its universal primary workpiece material rating covers a broad range of materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials, as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is installed in right-hand laydown threading toolholders that accept the 16 ER insert style. Typical applications include lead screws, power transmission components, and mechanical actuator threads requiring the Stub Acme form.
Designed for use in laydown threading toolholders that accept the 16 ER insert style. Suitable for external Stub Acme threading on CNC lathes and manual turning centers across universal workpiece material categories.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid insert movement or damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear before each insert change.
