The CARMEX 16ER6STACMEBXC is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external Stub Acme thread cutting at 6 threads per inch. It carries a PVD-applied TiN coating for extended wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed threading operations. The insert profile is ground to a 29-degree included angle, conforming to the Stub Acme thread standard. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a thickness of 0.146 inches, this insert seats into compatible 16ER-style toolholders. It is right-hand cut and suited for CNC lathes and manual turning centers used in precision threading work across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This insert is appropriate for threading operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the universal workpiece material classification covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Typical applications include producing Stub Acme external threads on lead screws, power transmission components, and actuator shafts. It is most commonly installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production machining, and maintenance repair environments. The 16ER insert style integrates with standard 16ER threading toolholders without modification.
Designed for use in 16ER-style external threading toolholders. Compatible with workpiece material classifications H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators during tooling setup on a lathe or turning center. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping without over-torquing the insert pocket screw. Verify thread form and pitch with a thread gauge on the first workpiece before running production.
