The CARMEX 16ER32UNMXC/G is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 32 threads per inch (TPI). Coated with TiN (titanium nitride) via a PVD process, this insert delivers consistent thread form and extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle (IC), and a thickness of 0.146 inches. The right-hand cutting geometry makes it a standard choice for machinists running external UN threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is suited for production and job shop threading applications where UN-standard external threads are required. The MXC grade and TiN coating support use on universal workpiece materials, including ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, heat-resistant alloys, and cast materials. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in precision manufacturing, general machining, and contract machining environments where repeatable thread quality is critical.
Designed for use in 16ER-style laydown threading toolholders. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metals including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified for the toolholder to secure the insert without overtightening. Verify thread pitch and form with a thread gauge after the first pass before committing to full production runs.
