The CARMEX 16ER3.0ISOP30 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for external ISO thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the 16 ER insert style with a P30 grade carbide substrate, this insert handles a 3.00 mm pitch and carries a material grade designation of C5, making it well suited for threading steel and similar ferrous materials. The uncoated finish means the carbide is used in its base state, providing consistent edge definition for thread form accuracy. A 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 0.146 inch thickness conform to standard toolholder seating geometry. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will recognize this as a direct-fit threading grade insert.
This insert is intended for right-hand external threading operations following the ISO thread standard. The 3.00 mm pitch suits common metric fastener thread profiles encountered in general-purpose machining, mold and die work, and component manufacturing. The solid carbide construction supports interrupted cuts and higher spindle speeds compared to brazed or high-speed steel alternatives. This insert is sold individually (package quantity of 1) with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for stocking as a consumable in production threading operations.
Designed to seat in 16 ER series laydown threading toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Suitable for CNC lathes and turning centers configured for right-hand external ISO threading with a 3.00 mm pitch.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamp force. Confirm insert seating and thread pitch setting against a thread gauge before resuming production cuts.
