The CARMEX 14I14UNMT7 is a carbide thread milling insert designed for cutting internal UN threads at 14 teeth per inch. Built from submicron carbide with a TiAlN finish, this insert offers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding thread milling operations. The MT7 manufacturer grade designation reflects CARMEX's submicron carbide substrate classification. At 0.1220 inches thick, the insert mounts into compatible thread mill toolholders and is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC milling centers. Minimum order quantity is 5 units; packaging is sold individually per insert.
This insert is suited for internal thread milling applications following the UN thread standard, conforming to ANSI B1.1-1989. It performs in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a TiAlN coating provides advantage, including stainless steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 14I insert style is appropriate for thread milling operations on CNC machining centers where helical interpolation is used to generate internal threads. Typical applications include threading bores in workholding fixtures, hydraulic manifolds, structural components, and precision machine parts requiring UN-standard internal threads.
Designed for use with compatible CARMEX thread mill toolholders accepting the 14I insert style. Cuts internal UN threads conforming to ANSI B1.1-1989 on CNC milling centers capable of helical interpolation.
Thread mill inserts are installed and serviced by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC milling equipment. Before changing inserts, power down the machine and follow all lockout/tagout procedures per applicable safety standards. Ensure the insert seats fully and the clamping screw is tightened to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before resuming operation. Inspect the insert edge for chipping or wear at regular intervals consistent with the material being cut and the depth of thread required.
