The CARMEX 08IRU55BXC is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal partial profile 55-degree thread forms. It covers a thread pitch range of 14 to 11 TPI (1.75 to 2.00 mm pitch), making it suitable for a broad range of internal threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a PVD-applied TiN coating under manufacturer grade BXC, and accepts both left-hand and right-hand orientations in a single insert style. The 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) inscribed circle and 0.087 inch thickness conform to the 08U IR/L form factor standard used across common laydown toolholders.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range spans steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and aluminum-type materials. It is intended for internal threading applications in production and job-shop environments where a single insert needs to handle varied material types across short to medium run cycles. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in precision machining, aerospace component work, and general metalworking will encounter this insert style regularly.
Designed for use in 08U IR/L style laydown threading toolholders that accept a 3/16 inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with toolholder systems designed around the 08U insert size code for internal threading operations.
Insert seating should be performed with the machine spindle locked and all power isolated from the turning center or lathe before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert clamp to the recommended clamping method without over-torquing the pocket screw. Confirm insert orientation (left-hand or right-hand) matches the programmed threading cycle direction before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper geometry transfer.
