The CANTEX EZ18SNW is an 18 cubic inch, 1-gang new-work electrical box designed for residential and light commercial wiring installations. It mounts directly to studs using integrated angled nails, eliminating the need for a separate fastener during rough-in. The box includes knockouts for conduit or cable entry and is sized to accommodate a standard single-gang switch or outlet device. Electricians use this box during the framing stage before drywall is installed. The gray thermoplastic construction keeps the box lightweight while providing adequate impact resistance for typical rough-in conditions.
This box is suited for new construction and renovation projects where walls are open and stud faces are accessible. Common applications include rough-in wiring for switches, receptacles, and GFCI outlets in residential homes, apartments, and light commercial spaces. The nail-on design allows single-handed positioning against the stud face while driving the nails, which speeds up high-volume rough-in work. The 18 cubic inch capacity meets NEC fill calculation requirements for standard switch and outlet device installations with typical wire gauges used in residential branch circuits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard new-work box compatible with single-gang switch and outlet devices in residential and light commercial electrical installations. This product is listed as a successor to the CANTEX old part number EZ18SN.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician during the rough-in phase before wall board is applied. Position the box face flush with the planned finished wall surface depth before driving the integrated nails into the stud face. De-energize all branch circuits in the work area before pulling cable through the knockouts. Follow NEC Article 314 for box fill calculations, support requirements, and proper device mounting.
