The Camden Door Controls CM-4040 is a red mushroom-head push button configured for maintained contact operation with a normally closed (NC) circuit. Push-to-push (momentary latch) action keeps the circuit state toggled until the button is pressed again, making it well suited for access control, door release, and egress applications where sustained signal output is required. The large-profile mushroom cap provides a broad, easy-to-actuate surface and is color-coded red for quick visual identification at exit and entry points. Electricians and low-voltage access control technicians are the primary installers of this device.
The CM-4040 is used in commercial and institutional door control systems, typically mounted at exit lanes, ADA-compliant egress points, or security checkpoints. It is appropriate for indoor installations where a maintained NC push button is needed to interface with electromagnetic locks, electric strikes, access control panels, or door release circuits. The red housing makes it easy to locate in emergency egress scenarios.
Designed as an OEM-style push button for commercial access control and door release systems requiring a maintained normally closed mushroom-head actuator.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified low-voltage access control technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. Disconnect and de-energize all related door hardware and control panel circuits before wiring the button. Mount the device in a location that meets ADA reach-range requirements where applicable. Verify NC circuit continuity with a multimeter before restoring power to the access control system.
