The CAMCO MFG 21 Trailer-Aid is a tire-changing ramp designed for tandem-axle trailers. When a flat occurs, the operator drives the good tire up onto the ramp, lifting the flat tire 4.5 inches off the ground for quick access and removal. No jack is required. The ramp is molded from a lightweight, high-strength polymer, making it easy to store in a truck bed or trailer storage compartment. It is suited for horse trailers, livestock haulers, utility trailers, and any tandem-wheel rig where jacking the full trailer is impractical or unsafe. One person can complete the tire change without assistance.
The Trailer-Aid is built for field use in tandem-axle trailer applications. It works particularly well with horse trailers, where unloading animals roadside is a safety risk. The ramp design allows cargo or livestock to remain in the trailer during the tire change, reducing unload time and keeping the job moving. It requires no tools to deploy and stores flat when not in use. Any driver operating a tandem-wheel trailer can carry this ramp as standard roadside equipment.
Designed for use with tandem-axle trailers including horse trailers, livestock trailers, and utility trailers equipped with dual-wheel axle configurations.
Set the ramp on a firm, level surface in front of the good tire on the same axle as the flat. Apply the trailer brake or wheel chocks before driving the tow vehicle forward onto the ramp. Confirm the trailer is stable before breaking loose the lug nuts on the flat tire. Follow the trailer manufacturer and applicable DOT guidelines for roadside tire service.
