The CAMCO MFG 11162 is a 48-inch PEX dip tube with an integrated threaded nipple, designed for use in residential and light commercial water heater service and replacement work. The tube threads into the cold-water inlet port of the water heater tank, directing incoming cold water to the bottom of the tank to improve heating efficiency and prevent short-cycling of hot and cold water at the outlet. An anti-siphon hole is built into the tube to break damaging siphon action that can cause premature tank wear. The unit is made from PEX tubing for corrosion resistance and long service life. It can be cut to length on the job to fit varying tank depths. Gasket is sold separately.
This dip tube is suited for water heater replacement service in residential and light commercial applications. Plumbing contractors and water heater service techs install it when the original dip tube has failed, broken, or degraded — a common failure point that causes complaints of lukewarm water. The threaded nipple connection measures 0.75 inches by 2.5 inches, compatible with standard cold-water inlet ports on most tank-style water heaters. The ability to cut the tube to length makes it adaptable across a range of tank sizes without stocking multiple SKUs. Package quantity is 25 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement dip tube for standard tank-style residential and light commercial water heaters with a 0.75-inch threaded cold-water inlet port.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the cold-water supply and disconnect power or gas to the water heater before beginning work. The tube can be trimmed with a pipe cutter or sharp utility knife to match the required insertion depth. Note that a gasket is not included and must be sourced separately before completing the connection.
