The BURNDY YAV28L-TC14-FX is a short-barrel, straight compression cable lug manufactured from electro-tin plated copper. It is designed for making reliable, high-conductivity terminations on copper conductors ranging from 4/0 AWG stranded code wire to 4/0 AWG Class G, H, and I weld-flex cable, as well as 550/24 diesel locomotive cable and 200 (Navy) conductor. The lug carries a voltage rating of 600 volts to 35 kV and a temperature rating of 90 degrees C. A built-in inspection window allows the installer to visually confirm full conductor insertion before crimping. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this lug in power distribution, traction, and heavy-equipment wiring applications.
This lug is suited for demanding electrical environments where current surges, elevated temperatures, vibration, and corrosion resistance are required. Typical applications include diesel locomotive wiring, welding power circuits, shipboard and Navy cable terminations, and industrial power distribution panels. The single-hole pad accepts a 1/4-inch stud, making it compatible with standard bus bar and equipment terminal configurations found in commercial and industrial installations. The purple color coding and die index 15 marking help technicians identify the correct die and confirm proper lug selection during installation.
Rated for use with 4/0 AWG stranded code conductor, 4/0 AWG Class G, H, and I weld-flex cable, 550/24 diesel locomotive cable, and 200 (Navy) conductor. Single-hole pad accepts a 1/4-inch stud. Use with die index 15 crimping tooling as specified by BURNDY for the HYLUG YAV-L-FX series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements and equipment manufacturer guidelines. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating the lug. Strip conductor to the wire strip length of 1-1/16 inches and insert fully until visible through the inspection window before applying the compression die. Use only the specified die index 15 tooling to achieve a proper crimp; under- or over-crimping can compromise connection integrity.
