The BURNDY KAU-KIT3 is a transformer lug kit designed for proper termination of transformer feeders and taps in both single-phase and three-phase distribution systems. The kit covers transformers rated 100 to 167 KVA single-phase and 150 to 300 KVA three-phase. It includes 13 dual-rated AL9CU set screw terminals accepting conductors from 6 AWG to 800 KCMIL in aluminum or copper. Terminal bodies are electro-tin plated high-strength aluminum alloy. Cap screws and hex nuts are plated steel. The hardware set includes flat and Belleville washers for secure, code-compliant connections. UL Listed and CSA Certified. RoHS compatible with exemption. Licensed electricians and transformer service technicians are the primary installers.
This kit is suited for residential and commercial transformer installations where feeder and tap conductors must be landed directly on transformer terminals. It is applicable to single-phase units in the 100 to 167 KVA range and three-phase units in the 150 to 300 KVA range. The wide conductor range of 6 AWG to 800 KCMIL accommodates the large feeder sizes typical of medium-to-large distribution transformers. The AL9CU dual rating allows use with both aluminum and copper feeders without additional adapters, which is common in utility and industrial service entrance applications.
Designed for use with single-phase transformers rated 100 to 167 KVA and three-phase transformers rated 150 to 300 KVA requiring feeder and tap termination at the transformer terminal block.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the transformer before beginning any termination work. Use a calibrated torque wrench on all cap screws and hex nuts; refer to the BURNDY installation instruction sheet included with the kit for required torque values. Do not mix hardware from other kits, as the Belleville washer stack arrangement is specific to this assembly.
