The BURNDY 50CHENBOX is a silicon bronze hex jam nut designed for fastening applications where non-magnetic properties and corrosion resistance are required. Manufactured under the DURIUM product line, this nut meets American Standard dimensions for the American National Coarse thread series. It features a 1/2 inch nominal diameter with 13 threads per inch (TPI) on a UNC-2B thread series. The jam-type profile measures 0.448 inches in thickness with a width across flat of 0.75 inches. Licensed electricians, utility contractors, and grounding specialists typically install this hardware in electrical and grounding assemblies where bronze hardware is specified.
This hex jam nut is suited for electrical grounding connections, utility bonding, and general mechanical fastening where non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant hardware is required. Its silicon bronze construction makes it a common choice in marine, coastal, and industrial environments. The jam-type configuration allows it to be used as a locking element against a standard hex nut or directly against a terminal or lug on a threaded stud.
Designed for use with 1/2 inch threaded studs on UNC-2B American National Coarse thread series fastener assemblies. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new installation nut wherever a 1/2 inch silicon bronze hex jam nut is specified.
Installation is performed by electricians or mechanical contractors per applicable NEC or project specifications. Power down and de-energize any associated electrical assembly before installing or removing fasteners. Use an appropriately sized wrench for the 0.75 inch width across flat to achieve proper seating without over-torquing the bronze material. Do not use with incompatible thread pitches or series, as cross-threading will damage the silicon bronze material.
