The BULLARD 37724 is a Type 29 zirconium flap disc designed for aggressive metal grinding and finishing applications. Built on a standard profile geometry, this disc uses zirconium alumina abrasive flaps bonded to a fiberglass backing plate. The conical Type 29 shape delivers a larger contact area than flat Type 27 discs, making it well suited for blending welds, removing mill scale, and shaping metal surfaces. At 40 grit, the disc removes material quickly while leaving a surface ready for follow-up finishing passes. It is rated to 8,500 RPM and fits a standard 5/8-11 arbor, the most common spindle thread on angle grinders in the trade.
This disc is intended for metal grinding and finishing work on ferrous and non-ferrous stock. Fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians reach for a 40-grit Type 29 disc when they need fast stock removal or weld blending on flat and contoured surfaces. The 7-inch diameter covers more surface area per pass compared to smaller disc sizes, reducing overall job time on larger workpieces such as structural steel, pipe, and plate. Discs are sold individually with a minimum order of one unit and are also available by the box of ten.
Designed for use on angle grinders with a 5/8-11 spindle thread and a minimum disc capacity of 7 inches. Suitable for grinding and finishing applications on metal surfaces.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder fully powered down and unplugged or locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the disc for cracks, chips, or delamination before mounting — never use a damaged disc. Confirm the grinder free-speed RPM does not exceed the 8,500 RPM disc rating before operation. Use the correct flange and locking nut for a 5/8-11 arbor; do not overtighten by impact wrench.
