The BSC PREFERRED VHB493612R is a double-sided very high bond foam tape designed to replace mechanical fasteners such as rivets, bolts, screws, spot-welds, and liquid adhesives in demanding assembly and installation applications. The tape features a dark gray acrylic foam core with acrylic adhesive on both sides and a kraft paper liner. It conforms to irregular surfaces and bonds across mixed substrates, making it well suited for situations where rigid fasteners are impractical. The temperature operating range spans -40 degrees F to 200 degrees F, and the construction resists moisture, solvents, and UV exposure. Licensed electricians, HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and general contractors commonly use this tape in both new construction and retrofit work.
This tape is used across a wide range of trade and construction applications. Typical uses include bonding muntin bars to window frames, attaching pre-painted metals during truck body assembly, and mounting vinyl wiring ducts, conduit channels, and electrical raceways to walls or panels. Its conformable foam core allows it to maintain contact across surfaces that are slightly uneven or have mixed finishes such as painted metal, glass, and many plastics. It is sold by the roll and suited for both shop fabrication and field installation work.
Designed as a general-purpose double-sided foam bonding tape for use on metal, glass, and plastic substrates in construction, electrical, HVAC, and light industrial assembly applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum adhesion - clean and dry all bonding surfaces before application and remove any oils, dust, or loose coatings. Apply firm pressure across the full tape surface after placement to ensure full contact. No special tools are required, but a roller or squeegee improves bond consistency on flat substrates. This product is intended as a permanent fastener and should not be applied as a temporary hold in structural or load-bearing applications without verifying suitability for the specific substrate and load.
